Anderson-based
District 5 is the county's largest and serves 10,921 students in the city of
Anderson and surrounding areas with two high schools, three middle schools and
nine elementary schools. The Hanna-Westside Extension campus offers
advanced and specialized classes to students from both high schools. The
district has 693 teachers, and has several programs for students with special
needs and talents. One of these is Project Challenge for gifted and talented
students in grades 3-12. There are also programs for handicapped students. An
excellent fine arts program for all levels includes art, drama and music
instruction. Outstanding academic and athletic teams excel in competition
locally and throughout the state.

Convention, is a four-year liberal arts institution of approximately 1,200
students. It is located on a 56-acre campus of red brick buildings and towering
oaks in the eastern part of the city of Anderson.

bachelor's degrees in 30 academic disciplines. Accredited by the Commission
on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Anderson
College serves both traditional students aged 18 to 24 and adult learners over
